Can someone explain to me what the results of oversizing a liquid line on a straight cool unit might be? I have a 2 ton S/C RUUD system 10 SEER running 3/8 & 3/4, manuf. says should be 1/4 & 3/4 . Currently running low suction and high head for a 80F day (58psi & 270psi). Wondering if oversized liquid line could be part of the problem.

For straight cool, not alot other than alot of extra refrigerant that cannot do any work for you.

That has nothing to do with your complaint though. You need alot more than pressures to figure out if its performing or not.

    Whats it matched with,
    Whats the airflow,
    Are the coils clean
    Line temps at both ends.
