I have a trane xl800 heat pump, 2 1/2 ton, that I am going to replace.
When it was originally installed a 1/2" refrigerant was used instead of the required 3/8". Will the oversized line need to be replaced with the new unit. I would like to use the existing line if possible if it will not hurt the efficiency of the new unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Wink Line Sizes

An oversized liquid line will require more refrigerant than the system may be designed to manage.

Any deviation from OEM specs during installation may void warranty coverage.

    Just read the book...
