Auxiliary Heat stays on went outside temperature above freezing

I have a new (October 2009) carrier heat pump & Edge programmable thermostat with the setting for the check valve (08) at 40, and the smart recovery setting on (12). Even when the temperature is in the high thirties, and forties up to 45 the auxiliary heat keep coming on especially early in the morning and throughout the day. The preset setting70°from 7 a.m. -- 11 a.m., 65°11 a.m. -- 5 p.m., & 65°11 p.m. -- 7 a.m.

Why does the auxiliary heat keep coming on?

Set the thermostat on hold so it does not set back. Email me and I will send you instructions by return email. my email address is in my profile.

Hit hold and set it to 70F.

If the aux heat still comes on in mild weather, get the charge checked.
