I worked w/ Benner for about a year and a half and My son worked w/ them for a little over a year! We both felt that Benner was one of the best companies that we have ever worked for. I also have several friends that work for Lennox NAS, so I feel that I am definitely in a position to respond to these posts. You guys are all missing one important thing - Lennox nas IS NOT Benner - They never claimed to be, and they are not trying to be. However, most of the friends that I have working w/ Lennox are fairly happy w/ them and aren't looking to change! Lennox's business model is different from that of Benner and you are comparing apples to oranges.
The only reason that my son and I didn't transition to Lennox was that they pulled us in, told us the deal, and wanted an answer on the spot. We told them that we would have to discuss this w/ our wives and families before we could give them an answer and needed a week or so. Apparently, they got offended! We have tried to contact Lennox 3 times about it, but they haven't returned the call. This struck me as a little strange as I feel that a week was not too much time to ask for in making a decision of this magnitude, but apparently it was.
Am I upset about this? No! I can also understand their position on the issue and it was us that were unable to comply w/ their request, not them! Otherwise, we would be working for them right now!
Lennox is really no worse than most anyone else and they are considerably better in a lot of ways. We really hate the missed opportunity!
Before anyone here gets the idea that there is anything wrong w/ lennox that made our decision for us, - THIS IS SIMPLY NOT SO! Lennox simply wanted a decision "on the spot" that we were unable to give them - NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS!
My advice would be to give it a try and see for yourself! I have friends that would not work anywhere else, and I have friends that don't like the "Lennox" way. It is strictly a matter of personal preference and no one else can truly make this kind of decision for you. YOU have to try it and see if the fit is right for you as an individual.
If you are serious about your work and willing to put in the effort to succeed, then you WILL be successful regardless of the company name and if you are not, then you aren't going to make it! PLEASE, go and do something else!!!

what an interesting theory! you most be a genius or former government employee, sure you have lots and lots of wisdom, so you believe that one could work for let say McDonnald and become the best hamburger flipper in town and somehow success would fallow, are you basing that on karma? mythology maybe? no wonder Lennox isnt returning your calls, I would either

Actually, because they are in the SAME market segment, a comparison is more than fair.

I would have been very surprised by their attitude.

Really? How would you understand, no, justify that kind of attitude? Even the Army gives you time to make up your mind when they ask if you are going to re-up.

That's not what I was told.

Wow. I must say that after working for 40 years, I would consider this to be a bottom-feeder outfit.

My first hand conversation included the idea that you are expected to condemn a piece of equipment on every initial service visit, so they can sell them a new Lennox unit.

Kind of like residential comes to commercial.

    Sounds like crap to me.

I don't know what you heard or if that is what anyone meant but I can tell you that is not the case in my branch. On the contrary. My boss wants to know if we have to sell a new unit not do we get to. We are too busy to try to sell new units. Yeah if that is what is best for the customer we do sell and install new units. And why would we want to sell anything but the best?

I have laughed at most of these comments. I don't know anyone at out branch that would rather be some place else. Considering some of the attitudes I have seen on here some of you are better off some place else.

    Fair enough.

I spoke with an employee that told me a great deal of information because I grilled him for approx 15 minutes as we were preparing to go on a roof for our respective companies. He had left Tradewinds at an earlier date looking for something better. His assessment was that Lennox was "ok, I guess."

I was not encouraged that a guy between 20 and 35 was saying "ok, I guess" when asked if this had been a good move. That suggested to me that Lennox NAS was not a destination employer, but just another stepping stone on the way to finding a "good" job.

Aviation is filled with bottom-end outfits, and the folks that work for them will tell you that they are a means to an end, and not what they really want. And, what they want are identifiable companies that they hope to work for in the future.

I suppose that it is the same in this case.

Not seeing a lot of former Benner techs singing the praises of Lennox NAS on here. Interesting...

the worst isn't over yet, at this point NAS bean counters are still cooking the new game plan for whats left of Benner, give it a couple of months and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Wonder how much Lennox paid for Benner?

I kind of figured its not over. Pretty soon the "honeymoon" will be over. And from what I hear and knd of what I see we will be seeing either a paycut or be forced into having our own branch and working 90+ hours a week for salary. But im still trying to be positive and hope some things change when we get rolling a little more. but i think im a litttle to hopeful with that. as far as how much they paid for benner? probably alot more than you and i could ever dream of having in the bank

honeymoon? thats nice, all I got was a one night stand behind a dirty dumpster

NAS managers make between $45K and $60K plus bonus they get by screwing the techs as much as they can, former Benners making more than $20hr will be targeted for dismissal also techs living in areas where a NAS branch already exist will be let go is there are no openings within the branch. Lennox thrives by isolating branches making difficult for labor unions to organize them, you wont see most of your co-workers again, Lennox does not sponsor social events like Christmas party or such, only the managers meet once or twice a year at the former service experts location in Fort Lauderdale FL, very few make it to the headquarters in Richardson TX, is very weird, almost seems like Lennox international could cut NAS loose any time since there arent any strong ties between mothership and branch.

I think the $20 hr break point is off I hired on at more than that last year. As far as branch managers taking advantage of techs I can see the incentive to do that but it is not true at my branch. I think who your manager is make all the difference. That can only be seen by a giving him a try. I figured that Benner had some branch managers that would be coming to Lennox also. I hope so we have already pick up customers in states we have not been working in.

If Lennox already had a branch in an area they may still need at least some of the Benner techs since they also got all?/some of the Benner contracts.

I alway hate to see anyone lose a job I hope it works out well for the Benner techs at least until they can get something better. At least this happened during the best time of year to get a job in our field.
