    I read that thread you posted, Seems he is not the only one, I love the one guy talking about putting the window unit in his basement so the basement heats the cool air and rejecting the heat upstairs.. Classic!

    Only thing hokey is the unit actually coming on. Most window shakers have a stat that won't go below about 66 to 68 to keep the evap from freezing. So unless they bypassed the stat, how did the compressor come on with 50something° air over the evap?

    maybe he hooked it up to the infamous CoolBot (which also would provide compressor off cycle defrost)
