    1960 monster electronic air cleaner

Two of larger company's in the TN Tri city area, with one of them installing a new package unit on the system, did not look at the duct work.
I found these still installed and completely stopped up with algae and slime.
This was a million dollar house. Look at the whole job and don't be lazy.

So your saying these were installed at a distance away from the unit ? wonder how long these were plugged or had any effect on the old unit causing the Replacement ?
    I forgot my Pen !!!

The units was gas packs and the air cleaner was under large crawl space.
Its amazes me that some one did not get really sick.

I agree....If they want fancy filtering, go with a media air filter.

I worked on a RTU recently that 2 other company's could not figure out why there was no air flow. They replaced the filters in the unit and cleaned the coils but still a serious lack of air flow. Server negative pressure. I started looking for a fire damper or something blocking the return. I found a old electronic air cleaner above the ceiling no one knew was there. It was so plugged it didn't even look like an air cleaner any more. I gutted it and now the system works like a new 25 year old system.

I use to work on a system with a filter like that. It had a water line connected to it with a drain underneath. All you had to do to clean it was shut the power off and turn on the water, shut the water off when the water ran clear. Let the fan run on it to dry it before turning back on.
