trane techview /magnets
Ive read here a south pole magnet is required for binding,does anyone know if the magnets that are present inside duct smoke detectors(for testing detectors)would work for techview binding?

1. go to your favorite wholesaler
2. get a free pocket screwdriver with the magnet on the end
3. use for techview binding
4. if it does not work, take needle nose plier out of your tool bag
5. use needle nose pliers to remove magnet from pocket screwdriver
6. turn magnet 180 degrees and re-insert magnet into pocket screwdriver
7. return to step #3
total cost: freeTime to get my nerd on!

I was a long way from the van and didn't have my Trane screwdriver along. I used the magnet in the flap of my cell phone pouch. Lit up the LED just fine. You don't have to turn the magnet around in an ordinary magnetic screwdriver. Just pass it by the LED a bit farther up the handle.

Yeah but dont forget if you dont point your tongue in the right direction as you swipe with the screwdriver it wont work and make sure your wearing your lucky fireproof underwear as well .

Well i tried the smoke detector magnet and it worked,although it may have seemed like a dumb question i just didn't want to run to the supply house.

If you turn the LLID upside down you can use the north pole magnet ...........
