    how to remedy ice on goodman hp

    does anyone have any suggestions about how to remedy goodman hps that have a 2-4 inch band of ice that will not go away around bottom of outdoor coil confirmed charge defrost board and stat also replaced rv on some that they had recalled but problem still persists on mutiple gsz13024 and 30s thanks for the help

    Get the unit up a little bit off the pad, make sure the drain holes are cleared, and make sure the defrost stat is on the affected coils.

    Apply a mister to the entire unit so the ice is more uniform. j/k


    If it is a demand defrost, make sure your sensors are attached and reading properly. I've had some issues with the coil sensors within the last few months as the clamps aren't the finest.

    these units use time and temp defrost not demand the have snap type tsat no sensors have considered installing stat with higher termination temp on these units good idea or bad idea

    Add a demand defrost system to it then.

    how would this help by holding the defrost cycle in longer

    Goodman has a service bulletin on this particular issue, 2t-2.5t HPs. The remedy is to relocate the defrost temp-rise cutoff sensor to a lower position. Go to your supply house to look it up.
