ucp2
i am working with a
rtaa 0804xl01a3dobp
u00g02355
working on and 80 ton air cooled trane., issue is that machine will trip on low evap temp and other diag due to cooler weather., what i would like to do is upgrade the ucp2 , not to a 530 , just add more ct's, if possiable, and be able to enable soft load., i have called the trane office, they are supposed to get back with me on this., any suggestions? can this be done?., i would think to upload software for what i am wanting to do..,no signature

SAY WHAT ???????
What do Ct's have to do with low evap temp ???????
UCP 2 already has a soft load capability ( if you know how to use it )You bend em" I"ll mend em" !!!!!!!

As far as I am aware the Ucp on an RTAA is not upgradable like that. You could try low ambient mods like fitting condenser fan speed controllers.

i may have tried to explain alot in a little if that makes since.,., i was thinking to also add more ct's for unbalance , current ect.,.,
what i am tring to do is to be able to enable soft load on ucp2., had another tech tell me that i need to go into service settings and play with low water temp, low refrig temp, and leave water temp., that the three of these combined and configured correctly that will help the nusince call.,
now i can change the confiuration in those three to keep them as far apart,, but not freezing,, as possiable to avoid a call.,no signature

The controller already has CT's so what will adding more do ????????
You have a refrigerant temp issue and your leaping in with both feet to look for what ????
Start at the beginning and look for the obvious problem first .You bend em" I"ll mend em" !!!!!!!

I know your in Florida so maybe you're machine is not equipt with the low ambient options. I would also guess that you are running straight water through the chiller and not glycol? The other tech is correct that the configuration can be changed but those settings are normally only changed if your running a glycol mix through the chiller, default settings are for water. Have you checked other possible issues like water flow and refrigerant charge? I'm sure if you post the full model number, one of the Trane guys on here will be able to tell you what the ODA temp design is for this chiller, I forget without looking it up. Good luck!

that makes since., i am certain that does not have the soft load option ., i am familuar with the ucp 1 and 2., i have 2 rthc with the ucp2 controller and the option is enabled, not only that but its there!!!.,,. idk, that is why i was asking.,.
and as far as the ct's ., i have read/seen somewhere that there were 2 sets of ct's on the power.,.,

now THAT is funny!
this chiller does not have 'softload'...at least not like it is applied to the other screw chiller products.
Standard Ambient from the factory is 15F...Low Ambent Kit allows it to go to -10F. According to the model number, this unit is a Standard Ambient unit.
