And you still haven't explained why you feel the need to demand an instrument that advertises a function that again, by your own admission, isn't suitable for the advertised purpose.

Would you carry a voltmeter that had an ohmmeter that the manufacturer stated that wasn't accurate enough for field use?

    I sure as heck wouldn't.

carried plenty of them back in the day cause there were no really durable and accurate voms back then that could take field abuse.

Like I told the other guy "you wouldn't get it". Its arcana that only us old timers would appreciate.

"back in the day" was then. Now is now.

I've still got a couple Simpson 260s and a few other relics from a bygone era. Heck, I've still got analog gauges. I'll donate them all to a museum or tech school some day so they can show kids how it used to be "back in the day" before they show them how it is done now with better, faster and more accurate instruments.

There are no excuses for not carrying accurate instruments other than a flat refusal to do so.

What do tarot cards have to do with having a micron gauge in a set of digital manifolds??

Who says I don't have accurate instruments? I just dumped fifteen grand for the latest technology in manifolds, air flow, the whole nine yards. And another twenty to upgrade HVAC5646 inventory of instruments.

Who does not have the the latest and best?

Ok, I took a few minutes and looked at teh specifications for the SMAN3.

Now, It seems that the transducer is comparably accurate to DC, however, the accuracty isn't expressed in the simplest terms possible.

The problem I see is in this conflict:

    Pressure:

    Maximum Overload pressure: 800 psig
    Microns for Vacuum (SMAN3 only)

    Maximum Overload pressure: 500 psig
Now, I haven't spent a LOT of time working with R-410a, but 500# isn't too far our of the realm of possibility and, according to FP, you've just ruined the micron gauge at that pressure.

Now, if you're happy with your instrument, that's great, but recognize that it has limitations and is not a perfect instrument. The DC isn't perfect, the Testo isn't perfect, either.
