Recently I came across a honey well pilot burner with a honeywell s86 spark module. After pilot burner lights, main valve opens and pilot burner keeps on ticking for quite a while. Furnace opperates properly. Is this a problem with the module or the flame sensor on the burner? I suspect it's a problem with the module, but am not sure. Also, is there anyway to test the electrode on the pilot burner for proper flame detection, possibly with a milivolt meter or miliamp meter?

wonder-boy; I believe the microamp signal should be between 3.0 to 6.0, reguardless if there is a signal problem it will be obvious when you read the multimeter. I've had the same problem with those pilot burners and in the end replacing the pilot assembly was the answer most of the time {especially after you have tried cleaning the sensor, adjusting/cleaning the pilot and still won't work}.
