    Hmm

    do you have to run 1 1/8 suction line on a 4 ton unit w/ 50 foot run? some say its ok to run 7/8 but wouldnt this cut back eff. of unit? i have seen a bunch of 7/8 50 plus feet, i know this dont make it right but what do you think?

    The manufacturer of the equipment should spell it out clearly.

    Although it will work with 7/8 suction line, you will lose some eff, and capacity.
    You might shorten the life of the compressor also, depending on how much longer the 50 you are.

    Call you tech support guy and ask him what brands manufacturer wants.
