Lonboy's original response that one could simply toss in any old LON devices and network and pass off the info and required commanded actions over that, MAY ... or MAY NOT have been an adequate answer. As I mentioned, impossible to know with no more information than the original poster gave.....
Agreed. My only points were that (and you invited me in with your first comment) that a LON network is capable and robust enough to run fire; not that you could arbitraily dump detection devices on any LON network and ignore SLC loops and practice for detection and alarm. And also, the reason for this ability is that LON is actually a full 7 layer OSI.
