compressor overload

just installed a goodman AEPT060-001-A-1 WITH A CPLT 48-1 WITH A TH8321U1006 T-STAT. UNIT WORKS GREAT EXCEPT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE COMPRESSOR IS GOING OUT ON INTERNAL OVERLOAD. PRESSURES ARE EQUALIZING DURING OFF CYCLE. START UP AMPS USUALLY AROUND 35 AMPS EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AMP DRAW GOES UP TO BETWEEN 95-125 AMPS ON START UP AND THERE IS A LOUD BANG WHEN COMPRESSOR STARTS. ANY IDEAS

What are your operating pressures, length of line set, size of line set, TXV or fixed, super heat/subcooling?
and most importantly, why are you yelling? and is it single or three phase, recip. or scroll?

Just going off that little amount of info, it sounds like you may be overcharged and you're slugging liquid back to the compressor. Either that or check your pipe routing and/or consider adding a crankcase heater.

With a TXV metering device you should always have a start booster! The TXV will sometimes cause the compressor to have to start with a high head pressure. Good Luck

need subcooling and superheat. sounds like your flooding and
compressor locking up.

i have found some scrolls need hard start
lenox has a hard start kit for the hs26 and 27 just for this problem. they also recomend it for all units with txv
also you may be over charged double check subcool and do super heat at the coil to make sure. what is the outside temp and inside temp

That TXV is a bleed type that should not require hard start components. My money is on contaminants or partially blocked filter/drier.

Check the subcooling.

Also, check to what speed selection that VS blower is set at. If it was not reset for that heat pump it is running way too high.

What was teh outdoor temp, and how long was it running when you took your readings.
