Goodman H/Ps, or acs, shrader probs?

Anyone have these damn schraders come apart new from the factory? I was removing them from the service ports for brazing and one of them came out all hammered, as in the threaded part came out the rest stayed in. Wont come out period. New Condensing unit or remove juice and replace port, nice...

Am I spelling schrader right by the way ?

It happens, in the factory they use a small drill type thing with a torque setting on it. They dont install it by hand like you would think. Once in a while it overfeeds it.

Had one on a Trane unit come apart one day. Used a small screwdriver and it came out.

I use a #8 X 3/4" zip screw I just start the screw and let it bite into it then grab the screw with a pair of pliers and pull it out.

Of course it was 2 hours from the shop.. This one would not come out, its like the crimped it in there... Tried a pick, opened it up for a sec, no go... Even an easy out...

Yes I had the same thing I blamed my son I thought he brazed it in without taking it out.

C & D makes some real nice core tools for just that problem.

You don't need to remove the charge...

It centers the removing too center and they have always came right out for me.

Tip

In your case you have access, you have not brazed yet. Bu tin the future it is always best to ahve slight pressure to bow out the broken schrader stem...

This same thing has happened to me from time to time also.WhatI do is take a drywall screw stick it in there a couple of turns, then pull the rest of it out with pliers.I've been sucessful about 90-95% of the time this way.

Ill give it a try, going out there tomorrow with a new service valve. Be cool if it did come out, wont have to recover.

Scrader valves come assembled with the service valve body from the vendor that supplies the service valve. Equipment manufacturers never touch vendored schrader valves, they do all evacuations and charging through a processing tube that is sealed off during production.
