Yes it's starts up soon as I remove the front cover, you know you guys bring up a good point about the curtain,
my thinking now is when I remove the front cover it makes a suction inside of the unit closing the curtain and begins working, I will check the curtain out Wed. when I go back to work, we have a new one in stock.

Before I cleaned it I had to reset it, the reset botton is of the right of the curtain,on this model anyway,
I'm not having to reset it anymore, just when I go and check on it it's just not running, but soon as I remove the front cover it starts up right away, some one here thought that it might be related to the curtain, my thinking now is it could be that, I will check on it when I go back to work on Wed.
I changed the probe and serviced the dump valve also, the water level appears to be right along with the water pressure of 20psi.
The freon is also at the right pressure...
Maybe you guys might know of this, with a maker as I'm working on, could it be that the room that it is located just to small, the room appears to be very but it has been at this location for quite a few years and ran fine.
Something else I thought of, after harvest as you know begins heat to drop the ice, could it also be that the heat won't stop and all the ive on the tray is melting?

I was the go-to guy for the ice machines at both hotels. Ice machines...you either hate working on them or love it. I, um...like it.
I did enjoy hotel work. Both places treated their staff pretty well and I learned tons. The last hotel gig was where I made the jump to being a service tech for a contractor.
Until you said your machine was a Mani I was thinking bin stat being your problem, but it sounds like the curtain accomplishes a similar function as a bin stat.

This thread should have been posted in the Refrig & Ice Machine section. A lot of us frigies don't check the resi section very much as we typically don't do that kind of work in general.
Anyway.....back in your original post you said the machine ran OK for 2 days and then it was found off on the third day. Then you said it mysteriously started when you took the front panel off and that you also have had to reset the machine with the button located next to the water curtain.
Did you check the board for indications of any safety limit shutdowns? Do you have the Manitowoc Handbook for this machine? If not, then get it soon or download it from Manitowoc's website:
I agree with the general consensus here that the bin switch is the culprit. It can be a real problem to nail down at times as it can fail intermittently. How it fails makes a difference. If it fails open, then you will find the machine off like it had a full bin. If it fails closed you may find a freezeup. It sounds like you have an intermittent fail open situation. Change out the bin switch.
The need to reset the high pressure control is interesting. It could be related to the intermittent bin switch problem. An open bin switch could cause the system to get stuck in an extended harvest cycle on occasion which could result in a tripped HP control when the system kicks back to the freeze cycle. Make sure your condenser is real clean. It could also be caused by a bad condenser fan motor. I've seen a bunch of those fail to come up to speed after a long off period causing a HP trip.

I will check the bin switch and the fan tomorrow, hopefully it will be solved tomorrow because I have other things I must do this week,
I have a change out to do this week, we have an old Trane that seen it's better days, if everything was as easy as doing a change out I'd be in high cotton

I finally found my problem with the freaking ice maker I have been working on,
It was the BIN SWITCH, well I learned something as they say,
something so simple but yet hard to figure out.
