    Wink house calls

A TECH. ARRIVES AT A SERVICE CALL,INTRODUCES HIMSELF AND THE HOMEOWNER DIRECTS HIM TO THE BASEMENT WHERE THE BOILER IS...ON HIS WAY DOWN HE SPOTS A RED SWITCH ON THE WALL IN THE DOWN POSITION,THE TECH. ASKS HER "IS THIS OFF FOR ANY PARTICULAR REASON" THE HOMEOWNER RESPONDED,NODDING HER HEAD"NO,i DIDN'T KNOW iT WAS OFF." THE TECH. TURN ON THE SWITCH AND THE INDUCER MOTOR STARTS,THE BOILER FIRES UP...HE THEN OILS THE PUMP AND CHECKS AND ALL IS OK...HE GOES TO HIS TRUCK AND RETUNS WITH A BILL FOR $85.00THE HOME OWNER STATES "I'M NOT PAYING,YOU DIDN'T DO ANY THING." THE TECH. SAYS"EVERYTHING IS EASY WHEN YOU KNOW THE ANSWERE"...BUT i DID GET YOUR HEAT WORKING AGAIN...AND THE HOMEOWNER SAID"YOU CHARGE MORE THAN MY DOCTOR" AND THE TECH RESPONDED WITH"OH, i MUST GET HIS NUMBER FROM YOU,AFTER,YOU PAY ME, A DOCTOR WHO DOES HOUSE CALLS AT REASONABLE RATES...."

this is not a joke, but i love it anyway.

It`s better to be silent and thought the fool; than speak and remove all doubt.

Don't be so testy, it is just easier to read with caps off.....
We use caps on to enunciate, emphasize, and let others know we are ANGRY!

U charge 85.00 not for turning on the switch to the boiler, but for knowing which switch to turn on

A previous employer once told me:
"You must charge the customer for doing what they are either UNABLE, or UNWILLING to do FOR THEM SELVES."

I call it a basic or minimum charge to pay for the insurance, gas, repairs, wages, taxes, etc. to be able to come to THEIR door to find and resolve their problem..... (stay in business).

Which is exactly what you did....

After 30 or 40 years in business, it will all be clear to you.
If you really know how it works, you have an execellent chance of fixin' er up!

Tomorrow is promised to no one...

Sometimes I feel like a traffic cop handing out speeding tickets. Dealing with the public is something you don't really understand until you have done it for many years.
