On most models (I have Carrier, 1 vertical and 1 horizontal), does the drain pan come tilted by the manufacturer, or is this something the installer must do? Can you just look at it and pretty much tell if it has proper tilt? Is this something worth worrying about. I live in a humid climate.

Furnace and coil or air handler??

Carrier airhanlers are set up from the factory for upflow and horizontal left applications.
If either has been converted to downflow or horizontal right, there are modifications the installer must make and those modifications must be done according to the instuctions given in the installation manual.

I mean the drain pan under the coil, not the big pan under the air handler. It's a cased coil. And thanks chillbilly.

Cased coil are associated with furnaces, but you also indicate it's an air handler?

Carrier air handlers have slope built in to the pan, works great,IF the air handler is level.
