I am a HVAC/R technician I am always looking for ways to keep up with the industry and its trends, and I am glad I found this website, the amount of knowledge being shared here is awsome. I have started writing programming code recently and I would like to post small calculation applications and get feedback on how accurate they are and if useful in the field at all. I am not sure if there is a way to upload them for free download.

Hello, my name is Rachel. My husband is a service technician for a company his parents opened up. I am the office manager there also. I joined this forum hoping that maybe I can learn a little bit about the business.

Hey all,
I gave up a 10 year career in online programming (IT) to try something new and get away from computers. I'm now one year out of Mechanical Engineering Technology program in college and was very lucky to be picked up immediately by the local Trane office as a Building Automation Systems tech (controls). Now I spend a lot of time in front of a computer programming. Figures!
I've been working primarily with Distech Controls and was very fortunate to have been sent for Niagara AX Certification. I love the new career direction and the challenge of controls. I also love the variety of work locations and the huge variety of required learning/knowledge needed to do this job well.
In a year of learning, I've learned I haven't really scratched the surface yet.

Hi Chris, thanks for the welcome and pointer. I should have mentioned I've been an unregistered lurker in the controls forum for a few months now. I agree with what you are saying about the level of knowledge and experience there. I fully intend to make use of it and hopefully contribute when/if I can.

and I would take my toys apart and couldn't figure out how to get them back together again....so I would tell mom I needed new toys. Eventually dad said to quit taking them apart unless I could figure out how to put them back together.
Had to call a senior tech out to show me how to put that darn thing back together again.
Janitrol...
