    What's the parts/labor warranty worth?

I'm choosing between two new furnace installations. Both are installing the same furnace (Bryant) and both have been in business in the area for many years. I would be comfortable going with either contractor. Their biggest difference appears to be one is offering a 10 year parts/labor warranty vs a 5 year parts/labor warranty. The 5 year warranty is about $150 less than the 10 year warrant on a $2800-$2900 total installation (90+ 2 stage/2 speed 90,000 btu). Is the $150 worth the additional 5 years?

    Thanks,
    Dave

$30 per year insurance against a repair that might cost you $$$. I'd buy that insurance any day.

Is that a two speed compressor or two speed fan on a furnace only?

Good deal. Odds are very strong, regardless of brand, with today's stuff that you'll have a repair in year 6-10 and it will surely be well above $150. We get over $500 to replace a circuit board on a 2 stage Bryant furnace TODAY, let alone what happens 5+ years from now.

dash - I believe it's just a two speed fan on the furnace. The AC was replaced recently by the previous home owners in the last two and a half years.

I'm with jrbenny on this one.

You can always ask the guy with 5 years, what's the price for 10 years.

To be safe ,be sure it's the manufacturers warranty,if it's the contractors ,be sure you think they will be there in 10 years, some will some won't.
