Hello everyone, went to a call today on a ICP heatpump
Model PH 5542AKA5 Package system. Installed Dec.03 by the owners relative. Problem breakers tripping when CC is energized after checking and isolating problem to the compressor , realized comp. is stuck, ohm compressor checks good , Check to ground no shorts. Just seems to be locked up. Just wondering has anyone out there seen this problem very often.

Did the internal overload not open?
It just threw a breaker? You might get it unstuck.
I dont see that often.

Thanks for the reply Jacob , but no the overload didn't open, I wish it would have . When I first went to this call noticed the breakers were not properly wired for correct amp loads the customer had 80+ amps ( 2 heat strips and condenser loads) all wired into a 50/50 breaker. Thinking this might have been the culprit in the tripping of the 50/50 I unhooked a third strip from an isolated 30/30 breaker . And ran the condenser load directly to it. Unhooked my Comp. common from the CC (to isolate the OFM ) Everything came up fine (fan runs) good amp. draw. But soon as Comp. common is tied back in WALA 30/30 trips just like 50/50.

I carry a kickstart booster, for use on stuck compressors.
Most of the time it will free them.
Then when i check the charge, I usually find it was over charged and is washing out the oil.
Redo the charge and they some times run for years, other times for weeks.
A running amp check gives you a good idea how long they'll last.
