    John F Kennedy and George H W Bush are 2 good examples. Kennedy's PT boat getting split in half and sinking and Bush's Plane being shot down, both of which happened fighting the Japanese in WW2. Then being elected to the Nations highest office to further their service to the country.

    I'd add McCain to that list.

    Sure he hasn't made it to top dog, but he had my vote in the 2000 and 2008 primaries.

    I agree, but he has not passed away yet. On second thought, Bush Sr hasn't either
