    trouble shooting request

I have an old 15-20 yr old consolidated (hda060?) furnace that works during the day and shuts off at night. Likely needs replacement. I replaced programmable thermostat but no difference. If replacement is necessary, what is recommended. Would like to repair as budget tight this year.

The equipment is outsmarting you, methinks.

Check the programming on the thermostat to see if you have set the temperature back at night.

Anything more than this, I'd call a professional HVAC tech to diagnose the problem.

    Welcome to the site mskye,

Glad to have you join us. There are several things that can cause it to lock out, so I recommend having an experienced tech out to look at it and diagnose what the problem is...especially since you would rather repair it instead of replace it.

If you replace, I recommend a 95% t o96% two stage variable speed furnace.

    Good luck,
    .

Make sure this unit was not a recall unit that had heat exchanger problems.

I agree with the other techs, get a good service tech to find out the problem and repair the furnace.what if you get a new furnace and the problem was justthe thermostat? Find out the problem, and go from there.

If repairs go above a quarter the cost of replacement, I'd replace due to age
