First install Please help

I need some help with my first package unit install. It is a 20 year old lenox 3 ton system. Can you guys give me some tips on small things,(Wire size from disconnect,Ducting size and # of vents).By the way this is a 1200 sq ft trailer and the ducting will be ran under the floor. I know this isnt the most practical way to do it but it was a 200 doller unit for my friend that needs a/c in arizona. Can you guys give me some info on stuff need for a first install.(Tape, flex duct, steel duct.) I'm also on a 250 doller budget for supplies.

This is all good advice. We have had to go to alot of schools to learn this trade. As pros we cannot gie this info to some one that is not trained in this field.sorry duc dowg

I just read your other post on the compressor...

FORGET IT, like everyone says stay friends don't touch his ac. Stay in school find a job with a local company, change some filters, carry alot of tool bags and climb a few hundred cramped dirty crawl spaces and LEARN, LEARN , LEARN!!!!

But don't eventhink your ready to chagneout someones system, compressor... You shouldn't do anything more than watch and learn!

WOW just WOW. I dont know if this guy knows that life expentacy of heat exchanger is 20 yrs. And trying to put that in a friends Trailer, you must not like that friend afterall. Or maybe you`re just plain ignorant. Please get the proper training. You`re putting your friend`s life at stake here.

There would need to be more information to answer your questions. Like the amp draw of the unit. Are you hooking into the existing trunk under the trailor and then adding floor returns?

Berad- I dont know if you know the rules of this forum but I think you should look into it. No DIY-ers in this site. At the time he is going to school but he`s still considered a DIYer because he dont know much about HVAC. I mean, for god`s sake, he doesnt even know how to hook up gauges let alone do this.

20 tons don't mean squat, we have helpers that can make the same claim, they change air filters and belts.


You may do some service on them, but you don't know how to install them. Or else you would know how to size your duct work.

Plus know how to size your line voltage wire.



It will be done and will be by code. The unit works at its age still, and I asked you the little stuff to make things go smooth.

Which is why I didn't give any info. This is as helpful as I will be with this. I know the rules.
