We are in the process of deciding on a wood burning insert for a new build. We like the information on the fireplace xtrordinair 36 elite. The catalytic unit adding to the elimination of emissions is a plus and the outside air that is heated and then sent into the house is a plus too, if it works and posi-pressure is great, again if it works. It seems to address some issues we have in one unit. Our builder sent us to look into heatilator and the building supply personnel didn't know much about it or there isn't much information...is there an efficiency rating on this from an official organization? Is it catalytic? or hat other added burning system, where it burns the emissions...sorry can't think of the name. The man at the store said it had an air cooled chimney which I understand, and that it took the heated air from inside the combustion chamber (fire right?) and sent that into the house...is that how they work? so they send possible fumes in, or smoke and emissions? I'm sure it isn't supposed to, but I'm skeptical.
If anyone has some real information I would appreciate the input. Thank you. Kimberly

no new info
Yes, thank you for the link, I've been there, and have the brochure in my posession, it doesn't answer the questions however. It is possible I'm missing the path to the answers on that site, I will visit more thoroughly, but I don't think so, and my husband has been there and he hasn't found the info either.
