Pump noise arggg
My neighbor, who is great by the way. This is not a neighbor bashing problem. She has a pool pump and pool heater near the end of her house near the pool. My back patio and pool area face this side of her house. Naturally the noise from both units drives us nuts all day long. This must be a common problem for millions of home owners that live in planned communities. Are there any products on the market that can surround the heater and pool pump and block all or some of this noise. I'm typing this on my laptop in the yard now and my peace and quiet is neither.

Have you told her ?
If it's old maybe she'll up grade.
Maybe a tall solid fence is better then one that aloows you to check her out sun bath'n.
I know that can be a tough call, depending.
If you try to fail, and succeed.
Which have you done ?
the duke aa. Is there a shed or anything around the pump and or heater.Has anybody thought about the problem along that line?Do the two of you get along well.Meaning would she be helpful in trying to fix the noise problem?
Thanks for the thoughts. I will be talking to her about it this week. She is on a business trip right now. We are not allowed to have any structures on the side of the house. I will check with my architectural committee to see if some sort of sound box is ok if we cover it with shrubs. Of course we will be checking to see if it needs some sort of repair first.
I would imagine any local rules preventing structures also include some sound limitations, especially after dark. Go to Radio shack, buy a sound meter for 45 bucks and measure the sound levels.
You mentioned your pool. Where is your pump and heater? is it not adding to the noise or is it giving the next neighbor the same fits? Could be the frequencies are matched just to the point where it doubles the sound. You could install white noise over your pool/patio area.
Around here, we have to get a note from the neighbor before we can install a condensor if its going to be close to another home.

Good ideas thanks. My pool equipment is closer to the front of the home. I checked my heater and it runs great and the sound is minimal. Which leads me to think her heater is in need of repair. When I am in my backyard I barely hear my heater or pool pump for that matter. Her heater is approximately ten feet from the end of her home close to her pool and the way our homes are situated it's strange we have the exact same model so both our living areas in the back yard face the same direction...east. But our units are on the same side of the house. That strikes me as a little odd. I think I will get that decibel meter just to figure out all the sounds from that side of the house at least it will give me facts to present to her. Thanks for that tip.
