Am south Alabama
Don't see much BB heating & boilers except old comm. bldgs.
Just want to learn something.
Have read ya'll talk about zoning for BB heating. Is each zone just a parallel branch off of the boiler ??
What do you use to control - control each BB or control the entire zone as 'one'.
Is the BB's in each zone series or parallel connected.
Just asking for general knowledge !

Most around here are serial loops feed by a common header. Each zone is controlled by an electric zone valve wired to the stat. Check out the following website for a more detailed description of hydronic heating. http://www.hydronicnetwork.net/hydronic/des/start.htm

Thanks for the info
That was precisely the kind of info I was looking for

Pick up a copy of either "Modern Hydronics" By John Siegenthaler or the I=B=R Guide. These tell you all you ever wanted to know and more about hydronic heating.
Then, make certain, if you want to install this type of system, that you read the following, by Dan Holahan:
"Pumping Away"
"Primary and Secondary Pumping Made Easy"
"How Come?"
These references will open up a whole new world in the heating industry to you.

Thanks Dave, will get the book. Though around here I probably won't be installing any. But I love to learn.
