vehicle cooling systems are semi-hermetic and basically designed to leak. Home systems are hermetically sealed and are not designed to leak.

I did not say that the refrigerant had left the system, I said that you can have a low pressure in the coil without there having been a leak. If you knew what you were doing, you would have understood me.

My mothers from pitt, showed me around.
I'd tell ya there's nothing in pitt.

OP, sounds like you need a different contractor if you want it fixed.
Or, if there is a leak, keep adding refrigerant. Sometimes it's the cheaper route. All depends on your budget.
"Better tell the sandman to stay away, because we're gonna be workin on this one all night."

"Dude, you need more than 2 wires to a condenser to run a 2 stage heatpump."

    "Just get it done son."

Maybe mom just doesn't know the right places to go in Pittsburgh. Aside from there being interesting folks who are members of H-Talk in Pittsburgh, there is also a neat hillside tram that mine workers used to use, a great bar section on the water and plenty of hills to drive up and down.

Of course, the main attraction in Pittsburgh in July will be those of us in the HVAC industry who will be getting together to discuss supercool, subheating and ECM modulating gas valves. Oh yea, we may also have a drink of two....
