This is an old Inn that my son works at in Manchester Vermont. He and his wife give the War Dept. and I a stay at this place as a Christmas present.
The place was started as an inn in 1769. It has been added to and added to over the years. It was closed for a short time but in the 1980's it was completely restored. Our company did some of the work on this project.
They saved all of the old wood work and the floors still have the rolls in them but everything else is up to code and all the rooms have modern plumbing.
Mary Todd Lincoln stayed there. President Lincoln was suppose to spend the next summer there with her in 1865. The Equinox,at that time, was renovating a special presidential suite for him but as we know he got shot in the spring of 1865.
We stayed in the room that Ulysses Grant stayed in during his stay. For a history buff like myself it made for a very interesting weekend.
