Flat out hands down no holds barred......buy a Thermopride!
It's well worth the extra money, well maintained it will outlast you and your house.
Don't help the installers unload it if you have a bad back, it takes three men and a boy to move one!
What Oil Furnace would you recommend. I need to use oil due to location. I have been received information on an Olsen HTL 100 and a Thermopride OH5-85. I know that Thermopride is suppose to be the best but is it worth the price differences. Thanks, Jay

With the high temperture burners being used today you are crazy not buying a ThermoPride......

Thanks for those who replied to my questions regarding Thermopride Vs Olsen. Does anyone know what the quality of the Olsen Oil Furnace is or has had experience with this furnace? What are some of the disadvantages or problems with this furnace? I am only installing a new oil furnace in a part time residence. Not sure if I want to spend the money for the Thermopride. However, it sounds like it still might be worth the money. I would like to find a little more information on the Olsen. Thanks again.
Jay
Thermopride has a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger, that is tranferable to the second owner.
Olsen makes a good oil furnace, but its not a thermopride.
What do you mean by how many times you need to fix something before it is fixed. Does not pertain to the Olsen furance. What is good about the Olsen?
Thanks
My sig, is from hearing too many people say, he fixed it 3 times, and it still does the same thing.
Olsen is a lighter guaged heat exchanger, it gives off its heat alittle faster, its flue passages are harder to clean right.
I've installed both, and serviced both, and prefer the Thermopride hands down.
I'd take a Bard before an Olsen, but its close to a Thermopride in price.
Quite a few Olson's around here......it's really not a bad furnace.
I agree, its not a bad furnace.Originally posted by bigbadbob

Thermopride, no question.
But if were my house, I'd at consider a cast iron boiler with an air handler instead. That way you the ability to heat a hot water tank for domestic hot water and you get the durability of a cast iron boiler, instead of 12 guage sheet metal (even though that is great for a warm air furnace like only Thermopride).
I am moving into a house with force air old furnace (old) 60% rating probably. I noticed the other day that there was a smell in the house when the furnace was running. It is hard to explain but was like burning oil. It was very heavy and made me feel kind of sick. I had a functioning monoxide tester working and it did not signal anything. I have never been around an oil furnace so I don't know what exactly I was smelling. The furnace was services about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Help me with some suggestions as to what this might be. I won;t be able to get a new furnace installed until the spring and I want to spend some time at the house now. Thanks, JJ
Appears the furnace is allowing exhaust fumes into the house. That is real bad. A crack in the heat exchanger is a possible reason for the smell. Even though it was just serviced, have it looked at again. Many times, without someone mentioning a problem, the service tech will not find a broken heat exchanger. Only when the heat exchanger was really bad (split, burnt out) was when I found them. Be sure the chimney is not plugged either. Don't put any faith in those monoxide testers, they routinely give false signals and sometimes, don't work at all. Been there, done that. A properly working oil furnace doens't put out monoxide anyways, so don't bother buying another detector...just get your furnace looked at NOW!.Originally posted by smoomlk

Did u have the problem before service was done? Could be a bad adjustment or new nozzle is bad
