Otto How do you post pics,

I have gone to that Imagewiz place but the password does not work. Does it work for you ?

Its a two in one, a check valve and a hand valve.

I used imageshack for this pic. Works great. I had even set up my own imagewiz account but it's such a hassle with the site being down so often. Check it out, it's free and easy to use http://imageshack.us/

Yep thats a flowcheck! Do you have more than one zone if so your going to have some ghost flow with out one. Unless your circ has one built in. Some times I run across the old Thrush one armed bandits im allways amazed to see them working after 60 years or more.
Free cooling and heating all at the wrong time of year.

With a username like yours, you ought to know what a flow check looks like.
I've replaced some old ones that had the lever like that on it but I never seen one with a tapping for purging.
If he doesn't go back and install a check valve he will definitely hear about it this summer when the rads are throwing off heat. Unless they shut it down and get their domestic hot water from something else.
