when checking ohms on a compressor the highest reading is between run and start, middle reading start and common, and lowest reading between common and run. is this correct?
how does it read on the schematic
R S C R S C
C S R
C S R
R S C R S C
what is the purpose of the run capcitor and the start capacitor?

It's been many years since I have used this, but if I am wrong I'm sure there will be some people here happy to correct me.
R to C = lowest reading
S to R = Highest reading
S to C = middle reading
In general the two lowa should add up to the high (approx.)

Yours:
R to C = lowest reading
S to C = Highest reading
S to R = middle reading
His:
R to C = lowest reading
S to C = middle reading
S to R = Highest reading
Um... I see a difference.

C and R - Lowest
C and S - Low
S and R - Highest and MUST be equal to the sum of the resistenace of C & R plus C & S
