Caught doing what it was his propane heating his pipes, it was placed back in the case very neatly. I figured if I asked her she would say yes then later she might feel like she should of said no, then a little bit later think she did the right thing. I just felt I was saving her some greif by not asking. ( isn't it going to end up in a garage sale anyway, when she kicks and the kids get the house )

    Me too.

Anything questionable is most likely wrong.

This one is not even questionable.

    It's just wrong.

Here's my take on it: attitude.

Everything when it comes to human dealings hinges upon attitude. The attitude I wish to take when I am in someone else's home, whether I'm working there or am a guest, is one of that home being not mine. And that if this same person were in my home, would I accept the same behavior in my home that I perform in theirs?

It continues: preparedness is an outcome of attitude. If one takes on an attitude that demands preparedness, one will strive to get and stay prepared. Sure, things get overlooked, but then the attitude ought to be, "My mistake, I'll fix it, taking the heat if necessary for my oversight."

Attitude also applies toward how this customer was approached...or the lack thereof. An attitude of respect would by default ask the homeowner for permission to use anything not of one's own possession. An attitude of presumption would not fly.

    Attidude indeed determines altitude.

You were wrong in the first place for taking it without asking, you were really wrong in the second place for bragging about it here. You said in another thread you hate customers, now I believe you.

This isnt so much about the amount of gas being used but more about the blatent disrespect towards the customer.

The tools are very sentimental to her and she did not want them touched. She made that clear to you.

Part of your job is to have the required supplies.
Dont have them? Go get them

Never use a customers gear without permission.

What happens if she notices a difference, makes you look bad.

Didnt someone catch hell from the officce for using binoculars awhile ago?
