I thought I had a voltage problem on a job. I thought it may have been a loose neutral out on the pole. I feel like a ass, my policy is weird voltage double check with my back up meter. I should have but didn't. Live and learn

Always, always, always check your meter on a known live source before using it.

No matter WHO makes it. That's a basic.

Another quick check I always make, is a lead continuity check. Remember, the best meter, with the best batteries is useless if the leads are open.

Batteries in meters are the weakest link in the chain.

I'd rather have a fieldpiece with a good battery than a fluke with a partially discharged battery, if my life was on the line. And that is saying something.

(There. I said it. Now all of you fieldpiece f*ckers can have a real blast. )

Oh, ok, it's just that the "beast" comment sorta had a "thilly thavage" ring to it. Might want to work on the more masculine style of prose that I subscribe to.

    Had it once too.

Aaaaaaaaand I was at the house to check the A/C right after a lightning strike. Check 1 leg and have 277 volts! What the hell! Told the lady "Shut off all appliances and call an electrician"! There was no problem x'ept my battery!

Did I say UEI? Did I say UEI? Did I say UEI? Did I say UEI? Did I say UEI? Did I say UEI? Did I say UEI? Did I say UEI?

NO WHY? Because I used the word "meter", not the phrase "wheel chock".
