Shut it down and call someone out for first thing in the morning. Tell them you have soot and smoke. Have it cleaned. Unless you want to pay someone to fumigate your house.
The longer you wait the longer the cleaning will take.
I am back with another question for you all. I was outside yesterday and noticed that when the furnace kicked on, the exhaust was dark gray in color, almost black (this is an oil burner). Does this mean that the furnace is running rich due to a clogged nozzle? I would suspect that I need to have someone come in and clean it.
