If you use Firefox try this, pages load much faster for me now so I thought I would share this.
open a new tab (ctrl t), type in about:config and hit enter
Scroll down and look for the following:
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading
Change the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" by double clicking on it.
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" by double clicking on it.
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 100 by double clicking on it and entering 100. This setting instructs Firefox to make 100 requests at once.
Then using the same method change these remaining settings to...
network.http.max-connections : 64
network.http.max-connections-per-server : 21
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server : 8
Let me know if it speeds things up for you, and if you screw up and change the wrong thing dont blame me
It does work. Cool, thanks for the tip.
Do you have any others? Firefox and/or Thunderbird
Karst means cave. So, I search for caves.
Do I just close the tab and it stays there or do I have to do that every time?
Just close the tab once your done then restart Firefox, you only have to do this once
I've had a problem lately with Firefox on this site. When I post a response it takes me to the page that says "Thanks for postin..." but it never redirects me to my post. I end up having to go to bookmarks and go back into hvac-talk.
I got so damn fed up with it last night that I deleted Firefox and lost all my bookmarks. My wife and kids are going to kill me when they realize it.
FILL OUT YOUR PROFILE!!
Since I did this I figured I would try IE to compare the speed, Firefox blows it away.
Glad I ran across this little trick
Is Firefox freeware? Got a link? I'm willing to try anything to speed up access to this site.
Its free.... http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
It wont speed up the server obviously, but the pages will load faster once the server responds.
thanks for the tip, now, what settings do i use to pick up some business? 60 deg. yesterday in VA., people had their damn windows open.
Same here, its 70 here right now at 6pm, service has slowed to a crawl, I've got plenty of stuff to catch up on though.
i've got a couple of questions about where you are.
1. is it still necessary to go to the pancake house, after the bars close, and get a membership to the after hours bar?
2. which course do the banner planes prefer to crash on? and better yet, which fairway?
3. are all of the tourists still from ohio?
thanks, i've obviously got too much free time on my hands.
