I see that sign on the side of the road all the time you know at the intersections, will work for food/ or just give me a dollar I need a beer.
very good
Agreed Roadhouse,
The last building I was at was $287 million Data Center at which the controls were done by a large and well respected controls group. The sequences were all wrong and the chillers would roll as they were supoosed to, amung other major issues. When a resolution was brought to the engineer that designed the controls by a "mechanic" it was shot down. We eventually went over his head to get it resolved.
I think that communication is one of the biggest problems here, I would not try to program a control system, I don't know enough about it, but if the engineer and technician were to work together the problems would be few and far between.

Dowdudda AMEN!
Dave - great points.
NewHVAC - a bit of humble pie does the soul well. The attitude is reciprocated by you as well. Since you are new to the forum if you start searching around you will find many people flip a bit of crap to see how you handle it, and if you handle it well they will help out. I've worked directly with a number of highly skilled individuals at their trade and they would do the same thing. If you don't handle it they don't feel you are worth their time. So far you're not doing very well at all. There's nothing wrong with being proud of what you've accomplished, but don't let your pride be so great you can't/won't take advice from others.
"HVAC should be a walk in the park", wow you really are in the dark. That is not saying you can't handle it but there are so many dynamics involved I can't tell you how many engineers with degrees I've had to go over/around because they couldn't understand all dynamics involved. I am not saying I haven't learned from them as well, but HVAC is far more dynamic than almost everyone ever gives it credit for.

I am not looking to go over or around anyone, I posted on this site because I figured mechanics and mechanical companies know the most about this subject. Most of the control work I have done I have had the electricians and refrig mechanics design the sequence. What I usually do is I get the sequence from the engineering consultant and we( myself and lead electrician or mechanic) redesign it to what they KNOW will work. For the last time, I am not saying that I know more then anyone , I just want to learn more for myself and as i said , i figured having mechanical minded people help me would be best. good lord, why does this have to be a continued argument. I just want to learn proper sequences and how everything works together.
Well the main problem with what you to learn, as it pertains to controls, is this:
Every system is different, every building is different, you may learn a perfect sequence for on system that simply does not work for another. Impovising is a must in these case, hence the need for so much experience.
I don't think that everyone here has something against you, it is just a huge request that you make, and it cannot be learned on one job, it takes years. I have been in the trade for 13 years, I have a Mechanical degree as well as an Electrical degree, but it doesn't mean anything without the experience, and I learn new things everyday.
HVAC is a very complex trade, each system (especially industrial and large commercial) are like living organisms. Each is unique and needs to be approached as such.
What you have to understand is that all of us have been looked down on by engineers, but it is us, the technicians that get stuck with the task of making the system work when the programmers and designers are gone. Alot of the time the system gets reengineered a couple of years down the road, so if you want to do it right don't look for a quick fix, take some time, first read some books on refrigeration. Get the theory down, then move on to other aspects of the trade. Again it will take time to do right, but if you want to do it right you will take the time.

certainly has that "Five Minutes Alone" feel to it.
Here, listen and tell me what you think, Newguy.

Outside of that, I get it and appreciate what you are trying to do and I hope you find what you are looking for and that you can accomplish your goal. After all, Anything is Possible, it says so below.
Good luck.
We do it right... after lunch!
we don't like you okay. LOL.
So what do you want to know?
What do you think would help you?
oh yea I forgot about the rv
Just curious.
Since you aren't allowed to work but you say you are self employed who
Gets those taxed American dollars.
Just sayin.
You sure are cocky for a starving pilgrim.
well, as long as I do not live in the USA , my company(a Canadian Corporation) can legally work there. NAFTA makes this possible. I am just not permitted to be legally employed by an american company without a proper visa but can work there on behalf on my own company. All those tax dollars go to the my government because my company is Canadian.
As long as there is a contract, Nafta covers me and there are no trade or tax laws broken if that is indeed what you are implying.
You know you can avoid all them taxes if you came across illegally and worked for cents on the dollar and send the money home to your family, then when you get enough money you can send for em and have some anchor babies, get some welfare some housing and medical benefits from our govt. Then you wouldn't have to work for "free" anymore.
He already has government sponsored health care, silly! He is Canadian!!
The second mouse gets the cheese!!
oh not up on forien welfare
Hey New2HVAC - Seek out the Honeywell Gray Manual. It is the HVAC control bible. It will not only help you understand many different sequences of operation, but also why they are sequenced that way.
Don't pick the fly crap out of the pepper.
Thank you, I have since gotten my hands on that manual and it has been very useful. Thank you for the advise.
