Descaling condenser?

I have preformed multiple acid cleanings here recently and am wanting anyone's feedback on if they use respirators or just good ventilation while adding acid to water before pumping into condenser, also while condenser if off gassing?

Surely thats a no brainer , read any safety instructions on the chemicals you are using and wear any protective equipment that they suggest on the package or on the MSDS sheet ????

We're not allowed to wear respirators in our company since we haven't been fitted. They don't want to go there for some reason.

If you have to ask if you should be wearing a respirator to do an acid wash, you really need to do some more homework.

I take safety extremely seriously and would not do any processes without knowing as many risks as I can. Ultimately the research falls on you.

Descaling a scaled condenser from calcium carbonate with acid gives off Co2 and hydrogen, what respirator would you choose?........

The answer is, there is nothing to filter. these are gases, the proper PPE could be a SCBA setup. Ventilation is the proper method of preventing being overcome by gases.

Grab the MSDS from the descaling agent (it could be acids or electrolytes) and go through it thoroughly, the tricky part is, the chemicals are pretty stable as they are, so you will need to do some research as to what they will do when adding a base to them.........

I have some info that might be of some help to you. There is a product called Rydlyme which will remove scale from objects, and is completely biodegradable. Since we use well water for process cooling at our plant, I use this product to remove the scale built up in shell and tube heat exchangers throughout the plant. Oh, and they have a website....
