    Question

We are building a house with an unfinished basement that we plan to finish a few years down the road. The house will be dual zone for the first and second floors. The builder tells us we need to add a zone kit to the first floor to allow for the basement once its finished. Is this something that is easy to add after the fact or should I go ahead and have it done now?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

You can do it either way, but it might be cheaper to do it mow.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?

Doing it now could save lots in time, money , and labor down the road. While the house is still under construction, it will be much easier to install the correct dampers and run the control wires. I can tell you from past problems that it's better to do it now, versus later.
