To the few Metallica fans

Im all grown up now but still like metal music and I guess that will never leave me. In my tean years it was metallica or megadeth or slayer and many others. Im or was some thing of a solo artis on lead guitar in high school and blaa blaa blaa. How many of you my age 30 still love metal music? The crap the kids will buy to day...Im my old man. Is this new music junk or am I crazy? Seems to me it is. How many of us metal guys are really out there still?

I like a bit of everything, country, rap, metal, rock, oldies, what ever. But one thing is for sure, the good music of the good ole days (metallica, skynyrd to name a few) seems to have more staying power than this new stuff.

While not a big listener of Metallica, I do enjoy a lot of the older Metal, W.A.S.P, Judas Priest , Queensyche with a little Ozzy thrown in for good measure, but I also have other taste as well Tori Ames, Celine Dion, A little Garth Now and again Have to stay versatile anymore lol

I saw them @ lamores in brooklyn with WASP and Armored saint. I believe that was 1983. OH boy, Now i am dating myself. They lost me After the black album. I was devastated to say the least. Anyhoo, I gotta say linkin park is pretty heavy, Great singer. And Korn is the whole nine yards. SEEEEEEEEya.

kripes---------I'm going to be 62 in a couple of weeks and I'm writing this to the music of "Disturbed" their first alblum is the best. For the most part I guess I'm a Metal fan. My kids just shake their heads at me.
I had a woman tell me many years ago-------"you get along with your dids don't you? Yeah----why do you ask? I can tell by the music that you listen to." So that ain't all bad."

a year or so ago my teen daughter came in as i was playing enter the sandman. since then it's been nothing but trouble. can't find a decent cd in this house. now when i buy a new one i just bring it home and burn a copy to give her. latest purchase was punisher sound track, but for some reason i can only find the burned copy not my original. dang kids, but on the up side hip hop is almost extinct in my house.
oh by the way i'm 44 years old.
ps. i will never turn her on to my blues collection. too much hard to find music in it.

Judas Priest, Scorpions and Def Leppard was about all I listened to in the early '80s. Then the Scorpions and Def Leppard made the radio and they just weren't cool anymore.
Every now and then I'll take out my old Priest LPs and crank up Green Manalishi (sp).

You were also on the cutting edge if you listened to Motorhead and Iron Maiden, but it was just too much damn noise for me.

It's tough getting old! A few months back on my way home, Jump in the fire came on the radio,So I cranked it up, was feeling Great!Then the Dj came on and said something like "theres a classic Metallica song from 8#! I never felt so old......

I would have identified myself as a 'lifelong' fan of Metallica, but after the last album (which should have been named 'St.Inker' IMO) I will have to be convinced to buy the next.

Not a metal fan really. I like rock and listened to some of the harder rock bands in high school in the 80's. But not really a fan. But I do like Metallica. Something different about that band. It's amazing to me how the music can be so hard and pounding and still have such elegant melodies. I just bought another of their albums and I haven't bought any music in probably 5 years.

I grew up listening to all of the 80's metal as well. I must say my all time favorate bands were/are Motley Crue and G & R !! I also have always liked The Beastie Boys. You wanna talk about "staying" power , they have been around just as long as if not longer than Metallica and still sell out arenas. The music I listen to now that I will still love in another 20 years has got to be Green Day and Linkin Park. The guy who does the singing in Linkin Park has a HUGE voice. And the funny thing is he looks like a lil twerp ! lol Oh by the way the new Crue song is pretty good also .

mo-flo got jams.........i like the ride the lightning album the best out of all of them.hated to see the metal years go........had alot of fun,no responsibility,not a care in the world.....then some guy talked me into doing this htg.&air stuff.....some reason the customers didn't get into the heavy-metal music cranked up and the van sitting out front......i always dreamed about opening up a bus. and calling it HEAVY METAL TIN SHOP....ahhh,those were the days!

Growing up I was big on Metallica, starting with "and justice for all", then "the black album", and finally "loaded" before they started REALLY sucking... I still like those albums, but I like evanesance, linkin park, smashing pumpkins (old and new), and coldplay to name a few, but now I also listen to country...

Well being 46 Have listened to just about all of them but speaking of being left out What about Thin Lizzy, Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Great White, Twisted Sister, U.F.O., Lizzy Borden, Testament to name a few Geez am going to have to dig out a few of the old classics and play some serious air guitar again lol

I once was a big fan of metallica, until they had a fit over the downloading of music over the internet...........they were the ones that got the whole thing going that is getting people sued and fined for downloading music. I just can't seem to like them after that.

Here is a group making more in 6 months thatn you and I will ever make in a lifetime, and they want royalties for downloads.........give me a break!

Can you imagine if people had just as much of a fit when this first happened as they did when natalie from the dixie chicks said something along the lines of "We are ashamed that the president is from texas"

Things might be a little different where downloading is concerned I guarantee.
