Here are a few pictures of a 3D maglite I modified to use a powerful luxeon led. Enjoy!

The light put out is VERY white and still focusable. Also it should run much longer on a set of batteries than the regular maglite. The led is rated to last thousands of hours. If anyone is interested in one maybe we could work something out.Mark

You can buy these for the mini-mag. (1 watt) and the 3 cell mag's (2-1 watt side emiiting led's)
Go Here and look under catalogue and bulbs page.

I have the mini mag bulb, it's like 5 or 6 times brighter than standard bulb.Karst means cave. So, I search for caves.

These are somewhat commonplace. The alum. heatsink is made by a guy in CA. I just bought the parts and assembled it. It kicks butt on an "orange" dull maglite bulb though. Plus the bulb will not fail on you at the worst possible moment.

How much light can you get if you modify a "Rodney King" sized maglight
The way we build has a greater impact on our comfort, energy consumption and IAQ than any HVAC system we install.

If you go to the link above there is a link from there to the bulb manf. website and it has all the info you need.

My modified mag will be brighter than those bulb replacements because mine is pulling 1.3 amps and it is heatsinked very well. The bulb replacements do get good reviews though. They tend to have a very long runtime.

i bought a mini mag sized 4led Darcy for about 16.00 from bright guys back in october, same lights and maybe 3 sets of batteries since then. my old mini mag would have gone through 8 sets of bats. and i don't knoow how many bulbs. it has already paid for itself.
one of these sites even had a talk forum link that was pretty informative and entertaining, but i cant remember what it was.
