Hot Tamales. We used to collect soda bottles @ 2 cents a piece, and then head to the corner store and trade them in for penny candy. We used to get 7 or 8 Hot Tamales for a penny. We'd go there with 7 or 8 bottles, and the owner would go nuts, counting out 100 Hot Tamales.

There was nothing like a hot summer day, sitting on a fence with a bag of Hot Tamales and 4 or 5 Freeze Pops. Life was so simple then.

It was those peanut's that came in a small red can, sort of like the old Levi Garrett snuff can. It would have a penny, nickle or if your lucky a quarter inside for a prize. Then a RC cola or a "10-2-4".
