    local questions:

From your home local: Pick up a travel card, present it to

the local in the area you are seeking work. If there are

job openings requiring your skills they MIGHT!! refer you.

Remember, any local puts there own members to work-before

    referring "out of towner's".

Remain up to date with your due's.

    Good luck.

once you get your journeyman's card you can go wherever you want. but as stated, travelers should only work when the local membership are all working.

stundentnmu: It would be in your best interest to learn the answers to your questions from a union represenative or a friend who is employed by the union.
Seek out someone in your area that can possibibly help you.
If they could give you an outdated agreement, it would explain the kinds of issues and condtions that the union seeks for it's members.
This forum is really not the best place to look for your answers. We can help in a general way however, you have no way to validate what we tell you.I would not be too concerned about working out of town. You will learn how to do the work and how the union works, before going out of town.
Generally, people seek work out of town, when there is no work in their home area. You have to be able to deal with periods of being out of work.Budget your resources when working and learn as much as you can in order to make yourself more employable.

    Good Luck
