Re: I heard it's quicker
No flame required spotty, acetylene exiting at higher pressures will ignite from the friction caused hitting the air molecules. Its one of the most unstable substances known to man, or women.Originally posted by spotts
just to lay the tank down and knock the top off with a sledge hammer. Do it near some sort of ignition or you loose the whole "Rocket Effect".A Diamond is just a piece of coal, that made good under pressure!

Don't believe it.
Heard the same about the oxy. bottle in high school. Should I shoot a hardware store acet. bottle and find out?

For oxygen tanks, >>>> Bring peanut oil up to 550*F and slowly lower tank into cooker being careful not to splash any hot oil on your new "I'm An Idiot" apron.Originally posted by spotts

It is kind of a secret among the bottled gas people but when your fusible plug blows you can just stick some chewed gum back in there

Don't you guy's up north have problems with your acetylene coming out of the bottle? We used to use butane for heating but when it gets really cold... that's when we switched to Propane...Just like the King of the hill guy. I had a 2000# clorine cylinder leak at work because someone put a steam hose on it and melted the lead plug. What a mess.
