That is very possible, I would go with tech 2, the Tempstar, very good units for the money. I put in lots of similar units. You are getting a very fair deal, take it.

Well please tell me when you say your on salary does that mean you are in the military and you consider that salary or you are working for a company that doesnt pay you overtime but charges the customer for it? Oh and yes you can bet they are charging overtime if it is a business and you are not in the military. Just because you do not get overtime that has no bearing on whether the heat shop does. I hate that when someone tries to justify what he should pay others because of what he makes. You have to look at what the company that you work for charges being they are the ones that have the overhead, if your an employee you dont have the overhead so dont think your wage is all that is charged for the product or service you provide. If you havnt been there as an owner ,there is a lot you dont realize.

AND no more pricing questions Or Im going to report you guys especially you Dice

We are all here for the dough no matter what day we are working regardless of oT or st we need to be paid.

regular business hours still exist so we need to stick to them and charge OT when its appropiate otherwise people will call at any time and expect the same rate as regular hours

You still may have a problem with your furnace as you stated you have had problems with this furnace for a long time. It may be a problem that will occur in the new furnace too. Check your vent pipe and how its run combustion air etc

Yeah!! What's with prices being posted here? I thought that was against policy.

I'm so disappointed in you guys. Can't you see what is happening here?

Tech #1 is old and wise. He knows that the furnace is cheap and rotten. Sometimes you just need to say replace it. Maybe he asked Kane if he was going to be living there for a while and Kane said yes. Then Tech #1 said I would definetly replace it. Tech #1 is tired of replacing stuff with crap. He has moved on to better equipment line such as Trane. Yes he is higher but he doesn't care because he has plenty of work to do for other customers that want quality.

Tech #2 is an employee. He spent extra time and parts due to his inexperience. He was scared that if he didn't try and replace the inducer another more experience tech from his company would come and get it going and then chew his ass out and make him look like a fool. He offered a cheap line of equipment so he can keep his price down and get more business from customers that really don't care about quality. He won't even be doing the work. His company will pass it on to the greenest installer and Tech #1 will be back within 5yrs. to fix it again

When I came back from Florida I had these big itchy bumps up and down the back of my legs.

After a week of scratching I went to the family doctor. He said "I don't know what is it is." $100 bucks- $20 bucks copay. So he sent me to a dermatologist. You don't get to see him unless the first guy saids it is okay.

The second guy looks at my legs and said "Bug Bites" $130-$30 bucks copay.

These visits where in November. I still have these unsightly red makes on my legs. They don't itch or have they got any worse. If I go back to these quacks they are just going to charge me more.

But I am not suppose to charge for my professional opinions????

Hey, Steve Wiggins. You have probably hit the nail on the head. See that scenario a lot here.

    Tech 1- $3000 to install a trane

Tech 2- $1600 to install tempstar and will not charge for anything he has done so far, even the two parts he changed!

    Both 90+ systems

BTW- to answer OT question - I fix airplanes and am on salary, no overtime when I get called in and I cant say no to Uncle Sam.

Ha Ha Ha the bigger question is what the hell were you thinking when you said "yes" to Uncle Sam.

Seriously i would not pay tech#2 and politely send him on down the road after all his diagnosis and fix "failed".

Pay tech #1 now for a job done right or keep paying tech#2 for jobs done wrong in the end it will be the same price.

The Trane unit is much better.

sorry but I am going to say that you need to call a third com[any and get their ideas on this one sounds like a bunch of hacks that don't have a clue. If tech 1 showed you how to make it work than there is really nonthing wrong with it that can't be fixed.
