I strive to be the best; I have customers who tell me I am the best. But I believe once you start thinking you are the best, you no longer are.

    What do you think?

I've never claimed to be the best but what has brought me above my coworkers is customer service. the way I talk to the customer and explain their problem in laymans terms they are normally real impressed and have total confidense in my judgement. I've worked with alot of people in the past that thought they were the cream of the crop and at times would belittle people but they are always brought to light for what they are and are no longer respected.

Now if I could learn to spell.

Gotta agree with trane,I try to learn at least one new thing a day.
Becoming complacent is the first step towards going downhill.
I am my own worst critic so this helps me to stay focused on not slacking.
Hate to see how some get their kicks from putting others down, these people have other issues we don't even know of.

I've hired quite a few guys over the years who were "the best". I ended up very disappointed. I think that when a man thinks he knows it all he quits learning.
I have my own little world. But it's OK...they know me here.

I think I am always in the BEST position for the-pie-in-the-face. I enjoy my work still and if I really thought I needed no more training or couldn't learn from anybody, I'd go over to sales

When I was running restaraunt refrigeration service I thought I was a pretty damn good technician. When I recently started working on chillers and BAS systems I realized real quick how little I really did know. It was kind of a reality check for me . I now realize that I really don't know squat but I strive to keep learning . I have learned more in the past year than I had learned in the past 10 years in the buisness. NEVER STOP LEARNING !!

    Sure I am,

Once I can say I'm better than Mr. Farley, Mr. Truitt, others I respect, admire, learn(ed) from and more than a few in here, then maybe I'll be near the top of the heap.

Until then I'll have to just settle for every other applicant. They are truely the best in the trade-just ask them.

I think that the only one that qulifies to be called the best is the Lord, he is the pilot I am just the co-pilot.
When I was a field supervisor we had a gentalman who claimed over 330 years in the business. I get called out because the freezer he worked on was dancing all over. This expert installed a large drier & sight glass on a cap. tube system and charged it till the sight glass was full. He also removed the hold back valve because he never saw one before! Then gets mad when I write up my report telling the boss that this guy is a BS artist.

Many posters in this thread have made my point. When you think you are the best, you have no reason to get better. Some learn to live, the best live to learn.
