When I was a field supervisor we had a gentalman who claimed over 330 years in the business. I get called out because the freezer he worked on was dancing all over. This expert installed a large drier & sight glass on a cap. tube system and charged it till the sight glass was full. He also removed the hold back valve because he never saw one before! Then gets mad when I write up my report telling the boss that this guy is a BS artist.
    Amen Brother!

I have met so many who claimed they weere seasoned men. In reality, they all knew some things about the trade but didnt know enough to be considered seasoned.
Whatever I do not currently know, I can learn. many wont say that. And some will even claim what they dont currently know, isnt important!

It's so weird, so many guys are just so proud they will never open up to learning.

I agree with frozensolid, "Once you start thinking you're the best, you no longer are." Pride always comes before a fall. I've seen too many cocky service techs over the years
have to eat crow when they proclaim to a customer, "You're troubles are over."

There's a difference between confidence and arrogance. Those who self-promote usually are trying, conciously or subconciously, to cover up their own defeciencies.

Give me the problems you can't solve, and after I do my best, ask arround, think about it a while, do some more of my best...I'll let you know.

My handle just says guru not the best guru. I have learned so much in the last 21 years of this trade and am STILL learning more. I also learn things outside of this trade.

I'm having my name legally changed to THE BEST. Some people around here keep confusing me with some guy called a**h***. This trade is one of only a few hands on trades that you can never claim to know it all, you're always learning and sometimes thats frustrating. I know I will never know it all or even come close and thats what keeps me on my toes.

I get bya at the job today and tomorow I will do better, I havn't been fired yet so I must be passable.

the one thing I have learned in 20+ years at this is that no matter how much you know or think you know there is always more to know.

    framehvac,
Thank you! But everyday I make mistakes and the only thing to do is to learn from the mistakes and do it better the next time.
