Building a Carrier is only part of what it takes to have them in a Navy.
You also need trained pilots and crews. But I think they should start helping with policing the oceans.

Thailand..............1
Now which ones have been a threat to Canada? Russia? And considering the shortest distance between our countries if a brief plane ride away does it make sense to have an aircraft carrier? Sure it would be nice having one but we put our eggs in other baskets.

The vast majority of Canadians, Australians and the British are quite aware of the burden borne by the US on the world stage and are very respectful of this fact. Policing the world is a thankless job and it costs a lot of money. From a US perspective I am sure that it also brings a lot of pride having the cutting edge in military technology and power.
