Need a cheap 40 ton at -5F Chiller

    Hello,

Looking for a low temp Chiller of 40 ton at tevap: -5F.
    The cheaper the better.

    Any ideas?

As an alternative I was considering a commercial chiller of 100 ton, but this would be ineffiecient.

    Thanks!

ok. I was thinking in making a Chiller from a Condensing Unit, but must be pointless, for economic reasons. Where I can find a surplus or used Chiller like this?

Which type of Compressor do they use? Copeland, Carlyle, Bock...?
Do those manufacturers produce quality chillers?

Rae makes a nice product, custom designed for your application, there are others as well. When you get away from comfort cooling applications, it usually is a custom machine. What compressors do you want? they will use them.

I am not sure which compressor to Choose. Nowadays most of them are screw type. I thought for low temperature reciprocating were the best.

scroll? On low temp?? I thought that they were only for med temp.
Which is the best for low temp, reciprocating, scroll or screw? Let's say for a 50 hp compressor..

In most cases, recips will be slightly more efficient than screw at low temp, but require more maintenance. Screws on the other hand get tossed in the trash when something bad happens. its a trade off.
