Don't know about the rest of the country, but we have a lot of troubles with Rheem units.
Have, for a long time, considered Rheem as one of the worst units. However, Since one of my suppliers went to Rheem, have been taking another look.
Two weeks ago, went on service call, Rheem unit, of course, less than 6 years old ( new customer )
compresor was bad - scroll.
Owner wanted to replace entire unit as it was a heat pump.
( I never recommend compressor replacement only on HP unless I feel sure that I know cause of failure )
Had my supplier deliver "new" rheem outdoor unit. The compressor was bad in that one, as well as the contactor was wired wrong. ( don't know if factory or supplier fault ). Had to bring second unit out for a second replacement.
Did not do much for my 'another look'
But of course, this is south alabama. We get sunshine piped in. Could be all we get is the rejects from the rest of the country.

Furnaces may be alright but water heaters are Junk.
Enlighten me. What kind of problems are you seeing? I've installed countless numbers of them without any failures, commercial and residential, gas and electric.

Rheem is the best bang for the buck.although I did not always feel that way,
but when they came out with the revolutionary design of keeping it close to the floor and letting you have a transition that you can still hang a humidifier on I think they took the lead at that point and never looked back.
There condensing units are simple, effective low to the ground, quiet and very servicable.
Its a good design on the points that matter. Everyone should be a Rheem \ RUUD dealer or at least be demanding the same from their manufacturer.
